Friday August 17th

Yesterday after I got home Vallerie did a little painting. Today is my grandpa's 93rd birthday, so I wanted her to paint him a birthday card. She did pretty good. I used an ice cube tray to separate her colors (worked perfectly). She didn't finger paint, she used brushes. She actually said "icky" when she started getting her hands messy. She ended up making 3 cards. She was pretty messy once she was done, but she cleaned up pretty quick. We hung her creations, with blue painters tape, on the wall to dry.

After that it was dinner time, so Vallerie had dinner and then she went to bed.

I did some laundry and then decided it was time to do a few things. I re arranged the dining room and finally re did the pictures in the large standing picture frame thing we have. I took out about 1/2 of the pictures that were in there and added in some of Eddie's baby/kid pictures.

Then, I folded Vallerie's laundry and headed upstairs to try something out. I took one of her (ugly) onesies and chopped the bottom off. It would have been too short for a shirt that way, so I added a piece of fleece to the bottom. Then I made a couple bows from the fleece and sewed them on the top of each arm. I cut the bottom felt so it was frayed a bit. I was hoping that if I washed/dried it that it would crinkle up, but it hasn't so far. Not sure I am in love with the shirt, but it's better than the onesie it used to be.

I have been looking online for how to upcycle shirts into toddler clothes. They have some good tutorials on how to do it, but I am not that good at sewing (and I hate pinning/measuring/etc) so, that might be a down the road project (when I have more patience). But, that's what gave me the idea to turn the onesie into a shirt. Maybe I'll see if Once Upon a Child has any 3T onesies (not sure if they even make those) for cheap to turn into shirts. OR I could just send the adult shirts I have to my mom and she can make Vallerie some clothes!

After I was done with that, I went to bed. I'm glad it's Friday. I plan on cleaning up the house this weekend and finishing a few craft projects (Vallerie's quilt!) Not sure if we're doing anything for my Grandpa's birthday or not. At the very least we'll stop by and give him his card.
