We had a great long weekend. Eddie came up with a great plan to go see my mom over the weekend!
We left on Friday morning, and got to her house in the afternoon. Vallerie was a pretty good traveler for the drive down. When we started getting into the big mountains her ears were popping and she didn't like it. This was also about the time that she was waking up from a nap, so those things combined did not make for a happy kid.
Friday night we went to Ruby Tuesday for dinner. It was pretty good. Eddie loves it and we don't have one in our town, so it's always a treat for him to eat there.
Saturday we went to Staunton's Gypsy Hill (I think) park. They were having an art festival thing. We fed some ducks and fish. Vallerie really liked feeding the fish. Then we rode on this tiny little train. Eddie and I barely fit in a seat. Vallerie got her face painted. She had to wait in line, and she got a little cranky at the end. She painted a lovely picture. It started out all colorful then she would take black and paint over all the colors. She did that several times. I'm surprised the painting ever dried i was so coated with paint. Then she played on the playground for a little while. On the way home we got some ice cream. Vallerie's was as big as her head! That night we had chicken for dinner. It was good.
Sunday we went to the Safari Park. It was really fun! We missed the last wagon ride for the day, so we had to drive our car. It was really neat. My mom drove and Eddie, Vallerie and I looked out the windows and tried to feed the animals. We had little buckets to feed them. Eddie's bucket got stolen by a big antelope thing. It was funny. After we drove through we parked and went to the "zoo" part. They had this caged area with birds in it. Little parakeet things. Vallerie loved it! She was screaching at the birds and just having a great time. Then we walked over to the goats and chickens and she fed them. She seemed to like that too.
Sunday night we had pizza made by Vallerie! My mom got all the ingredients and we just set them all out before Vallerie. She put the sauce on and spread it around with little pastry brush, then she added the toppings. Most of them ended up in one spot. Then she added the cheese. We had to guide her little with that just so the whole pizza had cheese. She would put one handful on the pizza and then she would eat a handful. She ate more unbaked pizza than baked pizza! It was really cute, and actually the pizza itself was pretty good! I think that's something we will do at home.
Monday was a little more laid back. We went to Boxerwood Gardens and walked around. They have some really neat places for the kids to explore and play. Vallerie plated with bones, cattle I think, and chased Eddie around the woods. Then we saw some frogs and walked through the "jungle" as Vallerie called it. We had burgers for dinner.
Throughout the weekend Vallerie played with markers and made a macaroni necklace. She also had a blast playing with "dough dough" (play dough)
We left Tuesday morning. Vallerie was an excellent passenger on the ride home. After Vallerie was in bed for the evening, Eddie and I watched 3 episodes of Game of Thrones and then we went to bed.
We really had a great Memorial Day weekend. I am so glad that Eddie suggested we go visit my mom. It was nice to go there when it wasn't a million degrees. Maybe this will be our new "thing".

May 20th
This weekend was a little crazy.
Eddie went down to southern Indiana to help his sister clean out their childhood home so it can be sold. He said it was really disgusting. The people that were living there (his half brother and family) didn't have running water or trash pick up, so they literally filled rooms with garbage bags. They were heavy smokers and they let their dogs, cats, rats use the restroom in the house. Eddie's sister is pregnant, and neither Eddie or his brother in law would let her in the house. It was that bad.
While he was gone I was very productive. I thought that I would surprise him with a freshly painted bedroom. So when Vallerie woke up that morning, we went shopping for paint. I also got her some light up shoes and a few other goodies (because she's so stinkin' cute) I got the room all painted (purple... Plum Legacy to be exact) while Vallerie was napping. It was pretty unbelievable actually. I thought she would wake up hen I was 1/2 done and I would have to finish when she went to bed for the evening. After I was done painting and Vallerie was up from her nap I re-arranged the living room. It looks much more open now.
After Vallerie went to bed I put the bedroom furniture back where it was supposed to go and made the bed. I went to the living room to sleep because I didn't know what time Eddie was planning on coming home Sunday, and wanted him to see it with the bed made. Well, he surprised me and came home Saturday night around 1am! I was so happy that I got it all done! I was thinking of leaving some of it until Sunday morning, so I'm glad I didn't.
Throughout the whole thing, Vallerie kept saying things like "We're buying paint" and "Mommy's room is purple". I was so scared she was going to spill the beans when she talked to Eddie on the phone. Luckily she didn't. WHEW!
Sunday we popped over to my uncle's house to see if there were any lawnmowers over there that we could snag. Ours is broken. There weren't any there, so we went price shopping. There are a couple that we like. It'll be Eddie's decision though because he's the yard man. We still have a couple other places to go and check out before we commit to anything.
All in all, it was a very productive weekend, but I would have liked a little more relaxation in there. Oh well. There's always next weekend (which is a 3 day). I actually think we're going to the Indy Zoo. Eddie's (other non-pregnant) sister bought a family zoo pass, and she actually got one free, so she gave it to us. It covers 2 adults 3 kids and 2 guests. So we can bring my mom when she visits, or my aunt when she's home and it'll be free admission for all of us. We were pretty happy to get the pass. It was really nice of his sister to give it to us.

Thursday May 16th
I have to tell a story about what Vallerie did the other day.
I got home from work and Eddie said that when Vallerie got up that morning, he said "Good Morning Vallerie". She said: "Not Vallerie, I'm Dr. Shrankie." Then all day she was calling herself Dr. Shrankie.
She is so weird! We are actually working on her saying her name correctly. She's been saying her name is "Allerie" which a lot of people hear to be "Abby" (She likes to say Hi to strangers and then tell them her name) So we've been emphasizing the "V". It seems to be going well.
I think that's all the fun stuff going on here right now, at least I can't think of anything else at the moment.

May 6th
Our new refrigerator and dishwasher got delivered on Friday. They both are SUPER awesome. The only "problem" we have is, since we got the one with the freezer on bottom, Vallerie can't reach into the fridge to put things away. I suppose that's not a bad thing, that also means that she can't get in there and take anything out. The dishwasher works great. I am trying to refrain from using it until it is at least 1/2 full. Hehehe.
Eddie bought me an early Mother's Day present. Rock Band 3! Whoo Hoo! I really want to get the keyboard that goes with it sometime, but that can wait. So, I played that a little over the weekend.
Vallerie is becoming an expert in throwing tantrums and whining. It seems she only does those things when I am around. I'm not sure how to get her to stop and listen to me. I suppose she will grow out of it. She did something really cool the other day. She went potty in the bathroom and she wanted 2 chocolates. Eddie said she could have one, and she said "No Papa, one and one is two chocolates" Eddie was so proud he gave her two. I really think she is too smart for her age. I looked it up online, and someone her age is supposed to be using 3-4 word sentences. Her longest is 12 I think. It goes something like: "Really really please Papa can I have a small candy bar please?" But she spits out 7 word sentences like it's nothing. She amazes us all the time. She is so smart!
We went to the store and got some groceries, and we saw some place mats for her. I got her one with shapes, and Eddie picked out one with planets. (She likes planets, especially "planet earth") So we've been using the planets place mat. She'll ask what each planet is. When we ask her to find certain ones, she can! I just think that is so cool. I suppose in order to learn things at that age, you have to have someone teaching you them, (Yay for Eddie and I) but even so, I really think she is smarter than kids her age should be. Yay!
Oh, Vallerie has now acquired Teddy... I am a little sad as he was my childhood friend, but she likes him and even calls him a bear. (Without any prompting from me) I have tried to take him back a few times, but she knows he's not in her bed (she has like 15 stuffed animals in her bed!) and will make me give him back.
This Friday is Eddie's sister's cookout. They are showing off their new house and announcing the gender of their baby. Eddie thinks it's a boy, I think it's a girl. I think she really wants it to be a girl since it is "their last kid". I guess we will have to wait and see. I am kind of excited to find out. She took my suggestion and is going to make a cake, and have the cake color reveal what the baby is. (blue for boy and pink for girl).

May 2nd
This spring has really come quickly. Last weekend we went to the park and local zoo. Vallerie had a really good time and we got some really nice pictures.
Our refrigerator broke yesterday, so we had to buy a new one. We got a really nice one at HH Gregg. We had a little trouble finding one because we had to have it a certain size, and they don't make too many that would work. My amazing mom told us that she would get us a dishwasher for our mother's day/father's day present, so we go that as well. They should be delivered tomorrow.
We met one of our other neighbors the other day. His name is Bill (wife's name is Jean) not sure what their last name is. He's an old guy, but really nice. Eddie talked to him for at least an hour. He stopped by the house a little later and gave us some homemade cinnamon bread that his wife made.
That's about it for now.
